What makes the Sahara so unique? For one, it’s the largest hot desert in the world with approximately 4800 km from East to West and 2000 km from South to North, spanning over 31% of the African continent. But it also has distinct geographical features, with unique borders on all four corners:
1) the Red Sea in the East
2) the Atlas mountains and the Meditarrenean in the North
3) the Atlantic in the West
4) and the Sahel in the South.
