FAQ

Classes

The main focus in our retreats is to come back home to your body through movement, guided meditation, dance meditation, inspiring breathwork, insightful journaling, kundalini classes and yoga.

The focus will be on free form as well as traditional exploration of movement and meditation, next to rituals, ceremony, connection with the environment and connection with others.

Rest assured that you will stretch and sweat at times, while at other times you’ll go inwards (or outwards in the desert!) and find the stillness in silence.

Room Types

All rooms are modern yet traditional in a Moroccan Riad, desert style. We have bigger availability for twin-share rooms with their own bathroom and AC. The two nights in the desert will be typical nomad tents with outside bathroom.

Individual rooms are at an extra cost and according to availability. See prices in the retreat info page.

Food

The food will be vegetarian and delicious :). Note that Moroccans eat lots of carbs in form of crispy local pancakes, potatoes with vegetables in a Tajine (typical food cooked in a cone shaped ceramic pot) and freshly made oven-bread.

However, there will also be fruits, salads, juices, and continental options to soothe all cravings and offer enough protein. Depending on how the group forms and what’s needed, we’ll adapt the food. 🙂

Travel

Traveling in Morocco is easy. For the Sahara retreat, the transfer from Marrakech go-and-return is included, so you have a more convenient trip and can easily land without having to plan much.

However, if you chose to arrive independently in the desert, you have a few options. This also saves you 110€ (let us know in your application about your plans).

Self-Travel to the Sahara

You can either fly into Marrakech, enjoy the red city, visit the Souk and the Ives Saint Laurent Museum, the Jardin Majorelle, the Palais Badi, the Bahia Palace and some really good restaurants – and then arrive by bus in the Sahara.

If you have a better connection to Fes, you can enjoy the city with one of the biggest, mesmerizing Souks, and take an overnight bus from there. Here you can also skip the extra nights on the 21. and 29. March, for example, and arrive on the 22. and leave on the 29. March. (cheapest option)

Or fly straight into the Sahara desert to nearby airports and take a private transfer from there, so below. (priciest option)

By Flight

Fly from Marrakech or Fes directly into Errachidia Moulay Ali Cherif Airport (ERH) (2h to Merzouga, +50€ for transfer) or Ouarzazate Airport (OZZ) (5h to Merzouga, +110€ for transfer). You get private taxi transfers from many online operators, such as By Bus

Catch a Supratours.ma bus from Marrakech, which leaves at 8am in the morning and arrives at 8:00pm in the evening (costs 25€ one-way / 50€ go-and-return), same timing on the way back. Stops are decent and there are several toilet breaks. You’ll see the majestic Atlas mountains on your way and pass through Ouarzazate – the city that has been the backdrop for many desert movies, such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

If you are adventurous, make a one-night stop in Ouarzazate, stay in a cool Kasbah, and take the bus the following afternoon to the desert.

Alternatively you can take a Supratours bus from Fes (19€ one-way / 38€ go-and-return), which leaves at 8:30pm and arrives at 6:15am in Merzouga. On the way back, it leaves at 7:30pm from Merzouga and arrives at 4:15am in Fes.

Pre-requisits to Join

In order to get the most out of the retreat – since it requires a certain level of physical fitness and mental-emotional stability – you need to be familiar with some of the practices offered and have a regular routine.

If you engage in sports, dance and fitness – next to healthy nutrition and meditation – that’s great too.

As a total beginner, wanting to take a cultural trip and learn about all the practices for the first time, this is not for you.

Digital Detox Retreat

This trip gives you the space to re-connect with yourself and therefore functions as a digital detox to increase the strength of your heart. Once the retreat starts, leave your phone in the bag, connect with others and immerse yourself in this unique and magical environment – fully present.

You’ll be surprised how many answers come to you through life without doing anything.

Take it as a unique opportunity to feel into each moment and what you want to do, exploring life right in front of you. Think of it as a time travel back to the time when people only had tiny Nokias with little buttons for texting and calling :).
